True Fit is the largest fit platform in fashion retail and says so: its site claims 100 million-plus active users, 60 million-plus products and a 72% share of size-and-fit solutions. Its recommendations come from "20 years of real purchase-and-return outcomes across apparel and footwear" plus the shopper's profile inputs and fit preference. Garu is a Shopify app that estimates the shopper's measurements from one photo, matches them to your chart, and renders the garment on them. True Fit facts below come from truefit.com, its Shopify page and its App Store listing on September 21, 2026.
We make Garu, so read accordingly. Where the other side is ahead, this page says so plainly.
The short answer
Choose True Fit if you are a large retailer that wants a recommendation drawn from a network of other retailers' outcomes, across apparel and footwear, in 45-plus countries, and you have a budget that starts at $1,000 a month billed on order volume. Its customer wall includes Walmart, Target, Lululemon and Ralph Lauren, and its Shopify app has a 4.5-star rating from 22 reviews.
Choose Garu if you want the shopper to see the garment on their own body and get a size for it, from a photo taken today rather than from what they bought before, with a price you can read on the page. True Fit does not offer virtual try-on; Garu's size comes with the render.

Where True Fit is genuinely ahead
- Outcome data. Two decades of what shoppers bought and kept, across a network of retailers. A returning shopper who already has a True Fit profile gets a recommendation without doing anything. Garu has no cross-store network today.
- Breadth. Footwear, kidswear, intimates, swim, 45-plus countries, a "shop for others" mode and an MCP endpoint for AI stacks. Garu is apparel on Shopify.
- Proof. Named enterprise customers and case studies (Lands' End, PacSun, Moosejaw). Garu has live merchants and no published case study yet.
Where Garu is built differently
- A picture, not only a number. The shopper sees themselves in the garment, front and back, alongside the size. True Fit returns the size.
- Measurements taken now. A recommendation drawn from past purchases assumes the body has not changed. It is changing, and a photo taken today does not decay.
- Price on the page. Free for 25 try-ons a month, $199, $399, Plus from $999. True Fit's Shopify page says pricing starts at $1,000 a month; one App Store reviewer reports a $499 charge after a "free" install. Ask them for the current tiers.
- Every size rendered. On Garu Plus the M and the L are rendered as separate garments on the shopper's body, so a shopper between sizes sees both rather than being told one.
The honest decision rule
If your buying committee needs the biggest name in fit and a recommendation that follows the shopper across other retailers, True Fit is that company and Garu is not. If your shopper's real question is "how does this look on me, and which size", and you would rather they answer it from a photo than from their order history, that is what Garu was built to do, and you can test it on your own products this afternoon.
