These two are not really the same product. DRESSX sells a modular AI suite to fashion and luxury brands — virtual try-on alongside an AI stylist, an AI mirror, a studio product and a Mirror API — sold through a sales conversation. Garu is a Shopify app: you install it, it appears on your product pages, and you pay a published monthly price. DRESSX facts below come from their public site on September 17, 2026.
We make Garu, so read accordingly. On brand-name proof DRESSX is far ahead of us today, and this page says so plainly.
The short answer
Choose DRESSX if you are a large or luxury brand with a team to run an integration and a budget set by negotiation. Their published case studies include Victoria Beckham and Loulou de Saison for try-on, Depop for their AI Mirror and Windsor Fashion for mobile commerce. That is a roster no young app can match, and if your buying committee needs a comparable name, they have them and we do not.
Choose Garu if you run a Shopify store and want try-on and sizing live this week without a procurement cycle. One app embed, no theme code, a published price from free to $399 a month, and a size recommendation attached to every render.

Where DRESSX is genuinely ahead
- Proof. Named brands, published case studies, and press coverage citing more than 23,000 try-ons generated. Garu has live merchants but no published case study yet, and that is a real gap rather than a technicality.
- Breadth. An AI mirror for physical retail, a stylist, an agent, an API. If you want one vendor across several AI surfaces, that is their shape and not ours.
- Enterprise fit. Custom contracts, bespoke integration and a named team suit a brand that buys software that way.
Where Garu is built differently
- You can start today. Install from the App Store, enable it on one collection, see renders on your own products within the hour. No call required, and the free tier costs nothing to test.
- The size question is answered. Every render carries a size for that garment, mapped to your own chart, with a note on where it sits close or falls loose — aimed at the 42% of fashion returns that are size-related.
- The price is on the page. You can work out what it costs before you talk to anyone, and what it costs per image.
The honest decision rule
If your next step is a vendor review with legal and procurement, DRESSX is built for that conversation and we are not yet. If your next step is trying it on your own product page this afternoon, that is the thing Garu does that an enterprise suite cannot. Our demo store runs the live widget on real product pages if you want to see the render quality before installing anything.
